Opportunities.

A volunteer is required to help Judy Dean a Project Manager at Fulbourn Hospital with a variety of admin tasks. The work will depend on what skills and experience you have. The hours worked can flexible, however a minimum of 4 to 6 per week is required. Someone who is confident about their I.T./computer skills is desirable. This is an unpaid voluntary position where the successful candidate would be carrying out work with a view to gaining valuable experience and an opportunity to obtain a reference in the future. Further information is available by contacting Judy Dean (Tuesdays-Thursdays) Tel: 01223 218738 or email: judy.dean@cambsmh.nhs.uk

Opportunities.

The INVIGORATE Programme require Volunteer Assistants.
The programme has been running for a number of years and aims to promote and provide physical activity opportunities for community mental health service users.
Often the people who attend, are not necessarily there to play sport or exercise, are there to meet other people and interact with other service users and at the same time improving their physical and mental health through physical activity.
The role of a facilitator would be to meet and greet new attendees and welcome them to the group and introduce them to others. It would also be to promote other groups/physical activity opportunities that exist. Some of the centres that we work with have leisure cards and forms that need to be filled in by the participants, so it may be the facilitator helps the attendee with that also, as it can be a little daunting for some people on their first session. A friendly face can help put that individual at ease and can make all the difference as to whether or not their experience is a positive one.

Personality is more important than fitness in this post!

There is potential for this post to become paid employment for the right person, there is also the possibility of obtaining some qualifications if appropriate . Further
information is available by contacting Judy Dean (Tuesdays-Thursdays)
Telephone: 01223 218738 or email: judy.dean@cambsmh.nhs.uk

More detailed information about these groups can be found by downloading the Invigorate leaflet (2mb pdf).

Project mentors needed

Businesses are being asked to help Cambridgeshire adults with disabilities or mental health needs who want to get back into work.

The county council has appealed for businesses willing to take part in its Ways into Work project, which aims to find part-time work experience placements for people with disabilities.

Each placement would consist of several hours each week, and last for three months. The council provides a mentor for each person on work experience, or can train a company employee as a mentor.

Susan Davies, the council's adult special needs assistant, said: "Placements like these can really assist people to move forward in their lives by helping them re-build confidence and acquire new skills.

"The benefits aren't all one way either. Placements can help a business to broaden its outlook."

For more information contact Ms Davies on (01223) 718 484.
