Tenison
Road Centre
The Tenison Road Centre is part of the Adult Day Services in the
Cambridge City locality of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Mental
Health Trust. They are based in a large Victorian end of terrace house
close to the city centre off Mill Road and near the Train Station.
They provide day services to adults from 18 years onwards.
Their Purpose
Using the Whole Life approach, they aim to help people overcome the
effects of social exclusion. Each service user will develop their
own plan with their key worker at the Centre. This plan will have
goals and aims which the service user has identified will help them
achieve greater wellbeing and independence in their life.
What They Provide
They provide some group work ourselves and some in partnership with
organisations from the independent and voluntary sector as well as
other statutory bodies. The groups reflect the needs of the service
users at any one time. The groups currently include: Weekend Newspaper
Review- Monday morning catch up Women only & Men only- time to
discuss issues within a safe setting Do I really want to Smoke- Smoking
Cessation support Meaningful Day- structured day and healthy lifestyle-
gym and lunch Music Appreciation- choose a CD track to be played,
socialisation Tutor group (WEA) - on creative writing Computer skills-
2 groups, in house and in the community Get Moving exercise group
with a Physiotherapist.
